Overview

American Airlines needed to announce transformative changes to its AAdvantage® loyalty program. With 115 million members worldwide, the microsite had to handle diverse linguistic and technical demands while creating a compelling user experience.

Partner agency Matchbox collaborated with Dreamers of Day to develop an enterprise-level WordPress platform. This multilingual platform not only accommodated more than 10 languages, but also provided the scalability to manage millions of visitors during the high-traffic launch period.

Challenge

Supporting 10+ Languages

The microsite needed to support 10+ languages, requiring precise translation and localization to ensure cultural relevance for global audiences. This meant implementing a robust translation management system to maintain consistency and quality across all language versions

We integrated a translation management system within WordPress, enabling seamless language switching and culturally accurate translations for all regions, providing a consistent experience across all user regions.

Optimized for High Traffic

Anticipating extremely high traffic volumes, we implemented a scalable infrastructure using a combination of WordPress managed website hosting in combination with content delivery networks (CDNs). In addition, on launch day, we made the website fully “static” and placed the site on the American Airlines server to ensure no database queries were made on production. This setup ensured the microsite could handle hundreds of millions of visitors without compromising performance.

Building on this success, Dreamers of Day created additional landing pages for the program, each tailored to a different language, ensuring American Airlines’ international customers receive localized and seamless experiences.
